Shares of Generac Holdings were higher after it said it has secured an agreement to supply backup power generators for an hyperscale operator's data center network.

Shares were up 7.7% ahead of the morning bell at $290.00.

The energy technology solutions and power products company said early Tuesday that it won the deal with the unidentified client after a rigorous qualification process that included performance testing, quality reviews and audits of its broader vendor base.

Hyperscale data center operators are expanding at a breakneck pace as artificial intelligence workloads and cloud computing drive demand for power-hungry infrastructure. Big tech companies, such as Meta, Amazon and Google, are racing to secure reliable energy supplies to keep their massive networks and facilities running.
