Agios Pharmaceuticals (AGIO) secured exclusive global rights from Oscotec to develop and commercialize cevidoplenib, a next-generation oral SYK inhibitor for immune thrombocytopenia, the company said Monday.

Under the agreement, Agios obtained worldwide development and commercialization rights to cevidoplenib and plans to advance the candidate into a Phase III trial in ITP in the first half of 2028.

Oscotec will receive a $25 million upfront payment and could earn up to $140 million in development and regulatory milestone payments, in addition to commercial milestones and tiered royalties on future sales, the company said.

Agios said the deal expands its rare hematology portfolio into ITP and could support up to $1 billion in peak annual US sales.
