G-III Apparel raised its earnings guidance for the year, roughly a month after it said it would acquire Marc Jacobs.

The fashion company on Friday posted a profit of $66.5 million, or $1.50 a share, in the quarter ended April 30, compared with $7.8 million, or 17 cents a share, a year earlier.

G-III's adjusted loss per share was 21 cents. Revenue fell 8% to $536.0 million.

G-III acquired Marc Jacobs in a joint venture with WHP Global last month, buying it from the brand's long-time owner LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton.

Chief Executive Morris Goldfarb said the acquisition will drive G-III's "transformation into a brand-led global powerhouse."

G-III, which also owns DKNY and Karl Lagerfeld, increased its outlook for full-year adjusted earnings per share to $2.15 to $2.25, from a previous range of $2.00 to $2.10.

It reaffirmed its sales guidance.

In the current second quarter, G-III expects sales of $570 million with adjusted earnings per share of 15 cents to 25 cents.

Shares were up 7.7% at $34.50 in pre-market trading.
