Haleon is voluntarily recalling some batches of its Gas-X product due to potential contamination with an antifreeze.
The company, which also owns brands like Advil and Sensodyne, said Thursday the recall includes four lots of 120-count and 72-count Gas-X Extra Strength Softgels that were distributed around April 13.
The lots may have been contaminated with a diluted propylene glycol-based coolant from a machine leakage during the packaging process, the company said. If ingested, the potentially contaminated softgels could cause nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain and diarrhea, the company said.
Haleon said it is notifying its distributors and customers by letter, email and phone, and is arranging for the return of all recalled products. The company has yet to receive any reports of adverse events related to the recall.
Gas-X Extra Strength Softgels are used to quickly break up gas bubbles in the digestive tract and relieve pressure, bloating, and discomfort, Haleon said.
