Moderna (MRNA) and the University of Oxford have received authorization from the UK Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency to begin a phase 1/2 study of mRNA-4194, an investigational cancer vaccine for people with lynch syndrome, according to a Monday statement.

Lynch syndrome is an inherited condition that results in high predisposition to cancer.

The study, funded by Moderna, will be run by the Oxford's Oncology Clinical Trials Office and its cancer center, the organizations said.

A second phase will increase enrollment to multiple UK locations and is expected to begin in 2027, the organizations said.
