Takeda Pharmaceutical (TAK) said Thursday its experimental psoriasis medication zasocitinib outperformed competing drug deucravacitinib in a phase 3 clinical trial.

More than 35% of individuals given the daily oral therapy reached total skin clearance after 16 weeks, more than 2.5 times the response rate for deucravacitinib, the company said.

The trial met its primary and secondary endpoints while showing a safety profile consistent with prior research, and the company intends to submit a regulatory approval request within the fiscal year, Takeda said.
