Shares of Chinese delivery firm J&T Global Express tumbled in Hong Kong trading after regulators initiated a probe into the company's safety measures.

The stock fell 8.1% to 8.08 Hong Kong dollars, equivalent to US$1.03, at midday Thursday, putting it on track for its largest one-day decline since April 2025.

China's State Post Bureau said Thursday that entities operating under the J&T Global Express name, trademark and waybills have been involved in multiple work safety incidents this year. The regulator noted that it had also identified recurrent safety hazards at the firm's facilities and has launched an investigation.

The company didn't immediately respond to a request for comment.

J&T Global Express has expanded its businesses rapidly outside China, including operations in Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Mexico, Brazil, Egypt and Southeast Asia.

In a recent note, DBS analysts projected the company would report 45% volume growth in Southeast Asian markets this year, fueled by strong growth momentum.
