Check Point Software Technologies said a security flaw in its Remote Access VPN and Mobile Access features has given attackers unauthorized access to some customers' network.

The Israeli cybersecurity company said Monday that the vulnerability found in certain configurations of its security gateway products isn't affecting Check Point's network, but might be exploited to obtain unauthorized access to other networks where its affected products are deployed.

Check Point has identified instances of the vulnerability being used to gain unauthorized access in some customer environments, according to a Securities and Exchange Commission filing. It is reaching out directly to customers that have used the affected configurations of its products.

Lotem Finkelstein, vice president of research at Check Point, said in a company blog post on Monday that exploitations have been observed at a few dozen targeted organizations globally.

The company said it started investigating the vulnerability last Thursday and has released a software update that addresses the issue. The earliest exploitation it has found was on May 7, and attempts increased in early June. Its investigation is continuing.
