Tetratherix (ASX:TTX) said further research validation of the Tetramatrix platform polymer product confirmed it forms a protective, adhesive carrier on the nasal lining, guarding compounds from degradation and enabling direct absorption into the bloodstream, according to a Tuesday Australian bourse filing.

The peer-reviewed study applied the product to insulin, confirming greater than 99% encapsulation, stability, protection from enzymatic degradation, and statistically superior compound delivery to the bloodstream and brain compared with unformulated insulin.

Another study tested the product against bovine serum albumin and showed high encapsulation efficiency, stability over four weeks when refrigerated, zero cytotoxicity, greater deposition in the olfactory region, and a statistically significant increase in the tightening of nasal cell junctions.

The studies were led by researchers at the Woolcock Institute of Medical Research, a Tetratherix research collaborator.

Its shares rose 1% in recent trading on Tuesday.
