Chrysler is recalling a group of hybrid electric vehicles over concerns that their battery packs may catch fire.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Association said the battery packs may catch fire even when the vehicle is parked with the ignition in the "Off" position, increasing the risk of injury.
The recall covers more than 17,000 vehicles, including Pacifica Plug-In Hybrid Electric models manufactured between 2020 and 2022.
Chrysler is a unit of Stellantis.
Owners are advised to not charge their vehicles, and to park outside and away from structures, until their vehicle is repaired, the NHTSA said.
Dealers will update the high-voltage battery pack control module software, as well as inspect and replace the battery pack assembly as necessary, all free of charge, the agency added.
