Neumora Therapeutics is throwing in the towel on navacaprant following the failure of its lead drug candidate in a pair of late-stage studies.

Neumora on Monday said navacaprant didn't achieve statistical significance on the primary or key secondary endpoints in two Phase 3 studies in major depressive disorder.

The Watertown, Mass., clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company said it plans to slash 35% of its workforce as it focuses on advancing the rest of its portfolio.

Neumora said it expects the job cuts to result in $10 million of annual savings, adding that its current cash and equivalents provide a runway into the third quarter of 2027.

Trading in shares of Neumora, which closed Friday at $1.78, was halted premarket on Monday.
