Air New Zealand Group Capacity Falls in May

Air New Zealand (ASX:AIZ, NZE:AIR) group capacity edged down 0.1% year on year in May, according to a Thursday filing with the Australian and New Zealand bourses.

Long-haul available seat kilometers (ASKs) fell 1.3%, while domestic ASKs increased by 2.9%, supported by two additional A321 aircraft and partly offset by capacity cuts following higher jet fuel prices after the Middle East conflict, per the filing. Short-haul international ASKs rose 1.6% year on year.

Group year-to-date underlying revenue per available seat kilometer rose 2.7% from the prior year.

The airline carried 1.1 million passengers in May, down 0.3% from the previous year, while the passenger load factor edged down 0.1 percentage points to nearly 82%, the filing added.
