Braskem's (BAK) trading and shipping unit has launched Blooming Future, a next-generation tanker designed to transport raw materials more efficiently and with lower emissions, the company said Thursday.
The vessel, named in China in May, features biofuel-ready engines and energy-efficient systems and is expected to reduce carbon emissions by about 30%, or roughly 6,500 metric tons annually.
Blooming Future is part of Braskem Trading & Shipping's expansion plan, which aims to operate a fleet of four LR1 tankers by early 2027, the company added.
Shares of Braskem rose more than 4% in recent premarket activity Thursday.
