IHeartMedia is cutting some staff in its programming division.
Ann Marie Licata, chief executive of iHeartMedia's multiplatform group, and Tom Poleman, president of the programming group, said the company is changing how it programs its stations to reward and develop its leading and up-and-coming talent.
Additionally, the company is looking to scale the technology capabilities it's built in recent years, implementing structural changes with its programming group and expanding responsibilities for certain leaders, they said.
"While we will be creating new roles to support our future needs, we also recognize that some colleagues and existing positions will be impacted as part of these changes," Licata and Poleman said in a memo to staff.
A spokesperson for the company did not respond to a request for comment regarding the size of the layoffs.
The changes aim to boost support for iHeartMedia's markets and sales teams, fully leverage its technology and move faster and with greater precision across markets, Licata and Poleman said.
