Fast Retailing (TYO:9983, HKG:6288), the UNIQLO parent company, has tightened its factory human rights audits to check possible violations across its 700 global factories as it prepares for new due diligence requirements to be enforced in Europe, Nikkei Asia reported on Sunday.

The Japanese apparel firm rolled out the new norms by the end of May, upgrading its supply chain monitoring by introducing a revised framework including about 300 universal audit items based on the code of conduct, the report said.

The firm identified 28 factories for further review after a pilot on new auditing criteria at a number of factories during the fiscal year ending August 2025, according to the report.
