Cameco (CCJ) temporarily suspended operations at its Cigar Lake mine in Saskatchewan, Canada due to challenges at Orano's McClean Lake mill, which processes ore from Cigar Lake, Cameco said Wednesday.
Operational challenges with the sulfuric acid plant led Orano to shut down the mill but repair work is already ongoing, and Orano is also considering alternative sources acid supply while waiting for replacement parts to complete repairs, Cameco said.
Cameco expects the McClean Lake mill to resume operations in two weeks and said it does not expect the disruption to impact Cigar Lake's 2026 production outlook.
