Entropy Neurodynamics (ASX:ENP) said its TRP-8803 drug candidate met the primary endpoint in the first group of a phase 2 trial in treatment-resistant binge eating disorder, with 50% of patients in complete remission and all patients seeing clinically meaningful improvement, according to a Tuesday filing with the Australian bourse.

All first group patients achieved the trial's primary and secondary efficacy endpoints, experiencing a 74% reduction in binge eating episodes alongside "significant" improvements across symptom severity, per the filing.

An independent data and safety monitoring board has approved the trial's progression to the second group, which is fully enrolled with a study baseline period to start this quarter and final results expected in the fourth quarter.

The top line results also support the expansion of Entropy's precision-controlled psychedelic platform into additional neuropsychiatric indications, the company said.

Shares of Entropy Neurodynamics rose past 6% in recent Tuesday trade.
