Airline, Cruise Stocks Pull Back After Iran Ceasefire Collapses

U.S. airline and cruise stocks are slipping after President Trump said his ceasefire deal with Iran is over.

Shares of Delta Air Lines, United Airlines, Southwest Airlines, American Airlines and other major U.S. carriers are all down about 2% to 3% entering the morning trading session. Shares of Carnival, Royal Caribbean Group and Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings retreated 1% to 3%.

Trump's latest about-face comes as tensions reignite between Washington and Tehran. The president said the temporary truce was over after another round of Iranian attacks on ships in the Strait of Hormuz, which prompted a fresh round of U.S. strikes on targets in Iran.

Brent crude futures jumped well above prewar levels following Trump's comments, reversing declines in the wake of the ceasefire deal.

High oil prices have hurt airlines and cruise operators since the war broke out earlier this year.
