INmune Bio (INMB) said Wednesday that a peer-reviewed preclinical study published in the Journal of Neurotrauma found its lead drug candidate, XPro1595, reduced Alzheimer's-related brain changes after traumatic brain injury in mice.

The Department of Defense-funded study found that brain injury increased inflammation and amyloid beta levels, both linked to Alzheimer's disease, it said. Treatment with XPro1595 prevented the rise in amyloid pathology and improved memory and pain outcomes, it added.

The company said the findings support further development of XPro1595 for neuroinflammation-driven Alzheimer's disease.
