Hong Kong Stocks Little Changed at Open as Iran Claims Strait of Hormuz Closure

Hong Kong stocks opened little changed on Monday as investors monitored escalating tensions in the Middle East after Iran claimed it had closed the Strait of Hormuz.

The Hang Seng Index slipped 17.47 points to 24,157.65, while the Hang Seng China Enterprises Index edged up 3.07 points to 8,042.26.

The closure of the strategic waterway renewed concerns over disruptions to global oil supplies, sending crude prices sharply higher.

Meanwhile, U.S. officials said vessels continued to transit the strait under naval escort, although shipping activity remained subdued.
