Shares of Veradermics were higher after the company reported positive Phase 2 results for its oral hair-loss treatment in women, supporting its late-stage development program.

Shares of the biopharmaceutical company were recently up 17% at $129.29.

The company said Wednesday that its extended-release oral minoxidil candidate, VDPHL01, met key efficacy endpoints in a Phase 2 trial involving women with mild-to-moderate pattern hair loss.

Patients treated with the drug showed average increases of 22.7 and 23.3 non-vellus hairs per square centimeter after six months in the once-daily and twice-daily dosing groups, respectively. About 89% and 90% of patients in the two groups reported their hair coverage had "improved" or "much improved" by Month 6.

Veradermics said investigators also observed improvements in hair coverage as early as Month 2. The company reported no treatment-related serious adverse events or adverse events of special interest involving the heart.

The company said it expects topline results from its registration-directed Phase 2/3 trial in female pattern hair loss in the first half of 2027. It is also advancing late-stage studies of VDPHL01 in men.
