Essential Utilities Unit Secures $74.3 Million to Advance Treatment Plant Projects

Essential Utilities (WTRG) unit Aqua Pennsylvania said late Wednesday it received $74.3 million in principal forgiveness loans and low-interest loans via the Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority.

The funding is expected to support per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances treatment projects, including at the Neshaminy Water Treatment Plant in Bucks county, according to a statement.

The Neshaminy plant is expected to be completed by late summer 2028, according to the company.

Funds will be also used to support three PFAS treatment installation projects at well sites in Chester and Luzerne counties, the company stated.
