TSMC (TPE:1101) is expecting multi-year demand for its AI chips to grow following a $100 billion plan to expand its Arizona facilities, according to a Reuters report on Monday, citing Chief Financial Officer Wendell Huang.

Speaking after the second quarter results on Thursday, Huang said the company is "very happy" with the progress in Arizona. He said the Arizona fabrication plant is delivering yields comparable to those at the company's flagship fab in Taiwan, according to the report.

The fourth fab is slated to bring the semiconductor company's Arizona footprint to 12 fabrication and advanced packaging facilities.

Meanwhile, the semiconductor giant is also considering raising money by selling new shares in the US, with the CFO not ruling out issuance of new bonds, Reuters reported.

Despite aggressive expansion plans, the company faces headwinds from geopolitical tensions, with the US looking to acquire control of advanced chips to China, according to the news outlet.
