Takeda Pharmaceutical (TAK) said late Thursday that new phase 3 data showed its oral TYK2 inhibitor, zasocitinib, delivered high rates of skin clearance across difficult-to-treat body sites in adults with moderate-to-severe plaque psoriasis.

The company said about 75% of patients with scalp psoriasis and about 70% of those with palmoplantar psoriasis achieved clear or almost clear skin at week 16.

Zasocitinib also significantly improved Nail Psoriasis Severity Index scores versus placebo, with responses maintained through week 24 and no new safety signals observed, the company added.

Takeda said it plans to begin regulatory filings for zasocitinib in plaque psoriasis with the US Food and Drug Administration and other health authorities this fiscal year.
