Harvey Norman Bull Pares Profit View as Consumer Headwinds Stiffen

Dow Jones

2338 GMT - Bell Potter cuts its earnings forecasts for Australia-listed retailer Harvey Norman as consumer headwinds blow hard. "We see risk in our estimates from FY27 onwards and push through downgrades as we expect challenging trading conditions over the next nine months," analyst Chami Ratnapala says. Bell Potter's FY 2027 and FY 2028 net profit forecasts fall by 7% and 11%, respectively. That drives a 10% reduction in its price target to A$6.00/share. Still, Bell Potter says Harvey Norman continues to trade at a 1-year forward price-to-earnings multiple of 13X. That appears attractive and warrants a buy call on the stock. Harvey Norman ended Thursday at A$4.75. (david.winning@wsj.com; @dwinningWSJ)
