Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing, or TSMC (TPE:2330) said its next-generation A14 chip process remains on track for volume production in 2028, with risk production set to begin in 2027.

Speaking at the company's second-quarter earnings conference, Chairman C.C. Wei said A14, the second generation of TSMC's nanosheet transistor technology, is expected to deliver a 10% to 15% speed improvement at the same power or a 25%-30% reduction in power consumption at the same speed compared with the 2-nanometer process. It will also increase chip density by nearly 20%.

The company introduced A12, featuring its Super Power Rail technology, and said both A13 and A12 are slated for volume production in 2029.
