Market Chatter: Oracle Faces Potential $7 Billion Collateral Requirement for Wisconsin AI Data Center

Oracle (ORCL) could be required to provide more than $7 billion in collateral for its planned Wisconsin data center after the state's utility regulator declined to ease credit rules for large power users, the Financial Times reported Monday.

The project is key to Oracle's $300 billion OpenAI computing contract, the report said.

The Public Service Commission of Wisconsin's decision could increase financing costs, with Oracle estimating the required letter of credit would cost more than $100 million annually, it said.

Oracle told the publication that it remains committed to the project and is seeking reconsideration.

Oracle and the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
