Shares of Noodles & Company rose after the fast-casual restaurant chain narrowed its second-quarter loss amid climbing sales.

The stock was up 28% to $15.86 in recent trading, and has more than doubled since the start of the year.

Noodles posted a quarterly loss of $3.95 million, or 67 cents a share, compared with a loss of $17.6 million, or $3.04 a share, a year earlier.

Revenue rose 0.5% to $127 million. Comparable-restaurant sales were up 10.3% systemwide, consisting of an 11.4% jump at company-owned restaurants and a 5.5% increase at franchise restaurants.

Chief Executive Joe Christina said a combination of better execution, improved menu offerings, more effective marketing and the company's portfolio-optimization program have all contributed to delivering positive financial results.

The company forecast fiscal 2026 revenue between $485 million and $500 million, including comparable-restaurant sales growth between 8% and 11%.
