Equifax narrowed its earnings and revenue outlook for the full year after its profit fell despite higher revenue in the latest completed quarter.

The credit-reporting bureau on Tuesday said it now expects $6.71 billion to $6.78 billion in revenue for the full year, and adjusted earnings of $8.39 to $8.69 a share. It had previously set targets for $6.69 billion to $6.81 billion in revenue and adjusted earnings of $8.34 to $8.74 a share.

In the current quarter, the company is targeting revenue of $1.68 billion to $1.71 billion. Analysts polled by FactSet had been projecting $1.71 billion. Adjusted earnings should hit $2.15 to $2.25 a share, Equifax said. That would put them below the $2.26 a share analysts were expecting.

Shares dropped 10% to $162 in premarket trading.

For the second quarter, Equifax posted a profit of $183.9 million, or $1.54 a share, compared with $191.3 million, or $1.53 a share, a year earlier when the company had more shares outstanding.

The lower profit was tied to a higher cost of services and squeezed operating margins in key segments. The company also endured a one-time 40 million pre-tax charge from a legal settlement.

Stripping out one-time items, adjusted earnings were $2.25 a share. Analysts polled by FactSet had been expecting $2.20 a share.

Revenue meanwhile was up 11% at $1.7 billion, topping analyst estimates. The company pulled in more mortgage revenue and saw strength across its business units.
