Market Chatter: Uber Technologies Reduces Customer Service Workforce by 10%

Uber Technologies (UBER) has cut about 10% of jobs in its customer service operations as part of an effort to simplify its organizational structure and expand the use of artificial intelligence, Bloomberg reported Thursday.

The layoffs affect the company's community operations team, with employees who had been working remotely also asked to relocate to hub offices in line with Uber's return-to-office policy, according to the report.

Uber said the cuts are aimed at simplifying operations, expanding AI adoption and increasing in-person collaboration, following a 23% reduction in its people division in June, Bloomberg added.

Uber did not immediately respond to requests for comment from MT Newswires.
