Nuvectis Pharma (NVCT) said Thursday that ciprocopan, also known as NXP100, has received marketing approval from the National Medicinal Products Administration of China for the treatment of patients with Paroxysmal Nocturnal Hemoglobinuria who had previously been untreated with Complement inhibitors.

China-based Haisco developed the drug and handles its development, regulatory approvals, and commercialization in the country, while Nuvectis holds exclusive rights to develop and commercialize ciprocopan outside of Greater China, India, and certain Southeast Asian countries, Nuvectis said.

The approval was based on a late-stage study by Haisco that demonstrated ciprocopan's superiority over eculizumab in patients with Paroxysmal Nocturnal Hemoglobinuria who had previously not been treated with Complement inhibitors, the statement said.
