Quest Diagnostics raised its full-year outlook after profit and sales rose in the second quarter.

The diagnostic testing company on Thursday posted a profit of $320 million, or $2.84 a share, in the quarter ended June 30, compared with $282 million, or $2.47 a share, a year earlier.

Stripping out certain one-time items, adjusted per-share earnings were $3.12, ahead of the $2.82 anticipated by analysts, according to FactSet.

Revenue rose 10% to $3.04 billion. Analysts surveyed by FactSet had forecast revenue of $2.97 billion.

The sales performance was driven by organic growth across Quest's physician, hospital and consumer businesses, Chief Executive Jim Davis said.

Quest now projects full-year revenue to be $11.95 billion to $12.05 billion, up from a previous range of $11.78 billion to $11.90 billion.

Adjusted earnings per share are expected to be $11.05 to $11.25, compared with the previous outlook of $10.63 to $10.83.

Analysts are projecting $11.85 billion in sales and $10.75 a share in adjusted earnings, according to FactSet.
