Lockheed Martin (LMT) has won a 20 million British pound ($26.7 million) contract from the UK Ministry of Defence to develop the Project Bowline hypersonic missile defense capability, the ministry said Wednesday.
Under the contract, Lockheed Martin UK will design, manufacture, and test a hypersonic target traveling at speeds above Mach 5, the ministry said.
The project is part of the UK's contribution to allied air and missile defense, with a live demonstration planned for 2027, the ministry added.
