Takeda Expected to Post Lower First-Quarter Net Profit

Takeda Pharmaceutical is scheduled to report first-quarter results on Thursday. Here's what you need to know:

 

NET PROFIT FORECAST: Takeda's first-quarter net profit is estimated to have fallen 31% to 85.3 billion yen, equivalent to $520.9 million, for the three months ended June, according to a poll of analysts by Visible Alpha. The Japanese drugmaker posted net profit of Y124.2 billion in the year-earlier period.

 

REVENUE FORECAST: Revenue is expected to have risen 4.6% to Y1.157 trillion, according to the Visible Alpha poll.

 

The stock has gained 19% year to date after rising 16% in 2025.

 

WHAT TO WATCH:

--For the fiscal year ending March 2027, the company has projected revenue of Y4.640 trillion and net profit of Y166.0 billion. Investors will be focusing on changes to the annual guidance as well as any impact that the Middle East conflict has on its operations.

--Fourth-quarter sales of ulcerative colitis drug Entyvio declined 0.7% to Y213.5 billion while sales of plasma-derived products rose 7.5% to Y267.0 billion. Investors will be closely watching for sales momentum of key products.

--Takeda said in June it booked a provision of Y402.5 billion for antitrust litigation related to constipation drug Amitiza. The company said it intended to pursue post-trial motions and an appeal, in which investors will watch closely for updates.
