Hormel Foods has named its president, John Ghingo to the additional post of chief executive, effective Oct. 26.

Hormel on Tuesday said Ghingo, who has been president and a board member of the Austin, Minn., maker of Spam lunch meat and Skippy peanut butter since last July, will succeed Jeff Ettinger, who has been serving as interim CEO and will remain a member of the board.

Ettinger, a three-decade Hormel veteran who had previously served as chairman, president and CEO, stepped in as interim chief last year ahead of the planned retirement of James Snee.

Ghingo, who had rejoined the company in 2024, was elevated to president at the same time.

Hormel said Ghingo, 53 years old, will receive an annual base salary of $1.28 million as president and CEO, along with an annual bonus with a target of 150% of his base pay.
