Standard Chartered is scheduled to report second-quarter results on Wednesday. Here is what you need to know:

NET PROFIT: Standard Chartered's net profit is expected to have fallen 13% to $1.48 billion for the three months ended June, according to a poll of analysts by Visible Alpha. The U.K. bank's net profit was $1.71 billion in the year-earlier period.

The lender's stock has risen about 20% in Hong Kong so far in 2026, driven by the strength of its offerings for affluent clients and share buybacks.

WHAT TO WATCH:

--First-quarter pretax profit from its wealth and retail banking business climbed 51% to $981 million. Investors will be paying attention to any further profit growth at the key client segment.

--Investors will also closely watch for any business impact from the Iran conflict. The bank has significant operations in the United Arab Emirates and many Asian countries reliant on energy from the region. Standard Chartered booked precautionary credit charges of $190 million related to the Middle East conflict in the first three months of 2026.

--The bank recorded $296 million of credit impairment in the three months ended March, up from $217 million a year earlier. Investors will be focusing on credit costs amid economic uncertainty in many parts of the world.
