Hong Kong's Labour Department has launched an investigation after a worker died in a fall at an aircraft hangar operated by Hong Kong Aircraft Engineering Company (HAECO), a subsidiary of Swire Pacific (HKG:0019, HKG:0087), on Monday.

Police received a report at 8:35 a.m. that a worker had been injured at HAECO's Chek Lap Kok facility.

The Labour Department said the worker fell from the working platform of a fuselage dock while carrying out maintenance on an aircraft hull. He was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

The department issued a suspension notice prohibiting the use of the fuselage dock involved until the employer has taken adequate measures to eliminate the relevant safety risks.

HAECO and Swire Pacific did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
