A federal judge in Florida allowed President Donald Trump to amend his $15 billion defamation lawsuit against The New York Times, while deferring a ruling on the newspaper's motion to dismiss the case, Bloomberg reported Monday.
The report said U.S. District Judge Steven Merryday gave Trump until Aug. 27 to file an amended complaint. The New York Times will then have three weeks to file a response.
Bloomberg said the judge did not specify any deficiencies in Trump's complaint.
A representative for Trump's legal team said the ruling underscores the president's case against the newspaper.
