UBS Group is scheduled to report results for the second quarter on Wednesday. Here is what you need to know.

REVENUE FORECAST: The Swiss bank is expected to report second-quarter total revenue of $13.23 billion, according to consensus estimates compiled by UBS. For the same period last year, it reported revenue of $12.11 billion.

NET PROFIT FORECAST: Analysts expect UBS to post a net profit of $2.39 billion, according to the same consensus. This would be roughly on par with the net profit of $2.395 billion the bank made for last year's second quarter.

Shares in UBS jumped 30% in the second quarter, making up for losses earlier in the year. The stock is up 14.5% since the start of the year through Friday's close.

WHAT TO WATCH

--BUYBACK: At its first-quarter results, UBS said it expected to have completed a $3 billion buyback program by the time it reported second-quarter earnings and that it would provide an update on its plans for additional capital returns then. UBS executives have signaled its plans would be based, among other factors, on deliberations in the Swiss Parliament about new banking rules. The amount and flows of buybacks will likely drive investor sentiment about the results, analysts at Keefe, Bruyette & Woods wrote in a note to clients, forecasting UBS's second-half buybacks at $1.5 billion. Morgan Stanley analysts said UBS can launch a $2 billion buyback in the latter half of the year, but has little room to go further given that it will probably wait for clarity on the new Swiss rules before going for more.

--WEALTH MANAGEMENT: A strong quarter for equity markets in the second quarter bodes well for the levels of assets under management at UBS's wealth-management and asset-management units, according to analysts at RBC Capital Markets. The bank already had a strong wealth-management performance in the first quarter, but markets also look supportive for client transactions in the second, the RBC analysts added. UBS's investment-banking division should also benefit from strong market activity, Morgan Stanley said.
