1528 ET - The protein craze that captured the interest of Chipotle, PepsiCo, General Mills and even Starbucks, adds a new player: Chef Boyardee. The iconic brand has a new protein pasta line featuring at least 25g of protein per can in products that include Beefaroni and Chili Mac that will be available nationwide next month. Chef Boyardee is part of Hometown Food Company which is owned by private equity firm Brynwood Partners. Hometown bought Chef Boyardee for $600 million from Conagra Brands last year. Brynwood said it planned to reinvigorate the brand and extend into new formats. Other Hometown brands include Pillsbury, Hungry Jack and Arrowhead Mills. Chef Boyardee traces it's roots back to 1928. 1250 ET - U.S. homebuyers took out 4.1% more second-home mortgages in 2025 than a year earlier, according to Redfin. That's the first annual increase in four years. By comparison, mortgages for primary homes ticked up 1% year-over-year in 2025 after rising 2% in 2024. Second-home purchases are starting to rebound, and outpace growth in purchases of primary homes. Affluent buyers, who are less constrained by high housing costs and economic uncertainty, drive that market. Vacation-home buyers are wealthier than people purchasing primary homes: 85% of 2025's vacation-home mortgages went to high earners, who had a median income of just under $300,000, according to Redfin. That's compared with a median overall U.S. household income of $88,000. The typical second home was worth $515,000 in 2025, versus $395,000 for primary homes, Redfin says. (chris.wack@wsj.com)

1013 ET - The number of Canada-based Redfin.com users searching for U.S. homes to buy or rent fell 15.3% year-over-year in June, according to Redfin. That after a 10.1% decline in May. Over the past two years, Canadian searches for U.S. homes have dropped roughly 37%, after posting a 25.7% year-over-year decline in June 2025. Redfin says Canada's economy is starting to recover after a weak start to the year, but uncertainty around trade, jobs, the domestic housing market and inflation is still prompting many Canadians to think twice about making a major purchase. Canada-based home searches declined from a year earlier in 45 of the 50 most populous U.S. metros. (chris.wack@wsj.com)

0339 ET - Barclays earnings were messy with investment banking beating estimates, while there were some small misses in other areas, Jefferies analyst Jonathan Pierce writes. "It was a messy quarter because of higher rates, the acquisition of Best Egg and the sale of American Airlines," Pierce says. Jefferies has a buy rating on the stock and a 590 pence target price. Shares are down 4.6% at 505.9 pence but up 6.3% over the year to date. (ian.walker@wsj.com)

0336 ET - Man Group's first-half results are strong with net inflows and profitability coming ahead of expectations, Jefferies analysts write. Assets under management at the end of the period came in 3% higher than expected while net revenues beat consensus by 6% on strong net management and performance fees, they write. This helps push pretax profit to $297 million, which is 7% ahead of consensus views, they write. As expected, the alternative investment manager didn't launch a new buyback, they write. Shares rise 7.8% to 323.4 pence. (adam.whittaker@wsj.com)

0200 ET - The U.S. Treasury is expected to boost its near-term borrowing projection when it releases its financing estimates next week but leave coupon auction sizes unchanged, Goldman Sachs analysts say in a note. They look for marketable borrowing of $827 billion for the third quarter versus $671 billion projected at the May refunding meeting, the analysts say. Nominal coupon auction and inflation-protected Treasurys--or TIPS--auction sizes are expected to be left unchanged this quarter, implying net bill supply of $534 billion for 3Q, the analysts say. Goldman Sachs affirms its expectations that the Treasury will begin increasing coupon auction sizes from May 2027, with eventual auction-size increases limited to two- to seven-year maturities. 0010 ET - The probability of a Fed-rate increase are being priced unusually high by markets, notes Pictet Wealth Management. "While we cannot entirely rule out the risk of a surprise hike, current market pricing looks too high," says senior U.S. economist Xiao Cui in a note. Cui reckons the latest U.S. inflation data and Fedspeak reinforce expectations for the Fed to keep rates unchanged at 3.5%-3.75% this week. However, officials continue to view inflation as the more dominant policy risk, leaving the door open to tightening as early as September, she says. Cui also sees the likelihood of two dissents in favor of a 25bp rate hike from regional Fed presidents Logan and Hammack, with a possible third from Kashkari.
