Cboe Global Markets lifted its annual outlook after a jump in options trading boosted second-quarter revenue.

The financial exchange operator on Friday posted a profit of $351.8 million, or $3.35 a share, compared with $233.9 million, or $2.23 a share, a year earlier.

Stripping out certain one-time items, adjusted per-share earnings were $3.56, ahead of the $3.48 anticipated by analysts, according to FactSet.

Revenue less costs increased 25% to $731.6 million, compared with analysts' estimate of $718.62 million, per FactSet. Net revenue was $1.44 billion.

Cboe's derivatives business saw sales jump 30%, thanks to record-high index options volumes, Chief Financial Officer Jill Griebenow said. Cash and spot markets net revenue rose 22%.

Cboe raised its full-year outlook for total net revenue growth to a percentage range in the mid- to high-teens. It had previously projected low double-digit to mid-teens percentage growth.
