President Donald Trump on August 1 rejected the assessment of Jeanine Pirro, U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia, regarding the damage at the Reflecting Pool, calling it a clear case of vandalism.
"I disagree 100% with Jeanine Pirro... To me, it was a pure case of VANDALISM, that included the grass, which had a big 86 47 emblazoned in giant letters on it, and other elements of the surrounding area," Trump wrote on X.
Trump acknowledged possible contractor difficulties but emphasized that the major damage was caused by vandals, signing the post as "President DJT."
