Air New Zealand (ASX:AIZ, NZE:AIR) group capacity rose 1.3% year on year in June, according to a Tuesday filing with the Australian and New Zealand bourses.

Long-haul available seat kilometers (ASKs) edged down 0.5%, while domestic ASKs decreased by 3.6%, driven by targeted capacity reductions following the sharp increase in jet fuel prices after the conflict in the Middle East, per the filing.

Short-haul international ASKs rose 3.6% year on year, driven by the introduction of two new A321 aircraft.

Group year-to-date underlying revenue per available seat kilometer rose 2.2% from the prior year.

The airline carried 1.4 million passengers in June, flat compared with the previous year, while the passenger load factor edged down 1.1 percentage points to over 81%, the filing added.
