IMAX (IMAX) said Monday it will expand the theater release of Sony Group (SONY) unit Sony Pictures' "Spider-Man: Brand New Day" in its North American network starting Thursday.
The change follows the movie's opening across China, Japan, and South Korea, which generated a combined $23 million in IMAX ticket sales during the opening weekend, the company said.
The movie will share North American IMAX screens with Christopher Nolan's "The Odyssey," which has grossed over $221 million globally on the platform to date, IMAX said.
Shares of IMAX were up 3.4%, while Sony shares were down 2.5% in Monday premarket activity.
