China's Consumer Inflation Likely Eased in July

Dow Jones

0338 GMT - China's consumer inflation in July likely eased, after the consumer price index increased 1.0% on year in June, according to Citi analysts in a research note. The summer price impulse through travel and other services could be delayed this year given the later summer holiday and extreme weather events, they say. Oil prices and gold prices could also pressure inflation lower, especially with retail gasoline prices in July falling 11% from the month before, Citi says. Citi expects China's July consumer inflation to inch lower to 0.8% on year.
