Amplia Therapeutics (ASX:ATX) struck a collaboration and supply agreement with US-listed pharmaceutical giant Eli Lilly to evaluate an investigational drug combination as a second-line treatment for patients with advanced-stage non-small cell lung cancer, according to a Tuesday filing with the Australian bourse.

As part of the deal, a phase 1b/2b clinical trial will assess the safety and efficacy of Amplia's narmafotinib in combination with Eli Lilly's olomorasib, per the filing.

Amplia will conduct the trial, which is planned to launch late this year, at sites in Australia and the US. The companies will collaborate to finalize the clinical study protocol and other associated documents.

The study extends narmafotinib's clinical development from pancreatic cancer into non-small cell lung cancer, for which the market is currently valued at about $31 billion, Amplia said. It added that narmafotinib showed a range of "compelling efficacy signals" across responses and survival in a previous study, with no significant tolerability burden over chemotherapy alone.
