Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing or TSMC (TPE:2330) said its semiconductor plant in Kumamoto, Japan, has resumed normal operations following the earthquake that struck the region on July 28, Focus Taiwan reported Tuesday.

The company said the recovery was made possible through the efforts of employees at the Kumamoto facility and its suppliers. TSMC also pledged to donate 250 million yen ($1.59 million) to support disaster relief, according to the report.

The chipmaker thanked the Japanese government, local authorities and its supply chain partners for their assistance during the recovery. The Kumamoto plant is operated by Japan Advanced Semiconductor Manufacturing (JASM), a TSMC-led joint venture, the news publication said.

TSMC did not immediately reply to MT Newswires' request for comment
