BOE Could Favor More Short-Dated Gilt Sales

Dow Jones

1359 GMT - The Bank of England could increase the sale of short-dated gilts under its quantitative tightening program, or maintain the skew towards more shorter-dated sales rather than long-dated gilt sales, Bank of America strategists say in a note. Quantitative tightening is the process of reducing the BOE's bond holdings purchased during previous periods of quantitative easing. Bank of America strategists estimate the BOE could cut the pace of QT to 50 billion pounds ($67 billion) in the 12-month period starting in October, from 70 billion pounds currently.
