Canopy Growth' logged a narrowed loss in its fiscal first quarter as cannabis sales rose and new vaporizer products boosted revenue.

For the three months ended June 30, the cannabis company posted on Friday a narrowed net loss of 14.6 million Canadian dollars ($10.4 million), or C$0.03 a share, compared with a loss of C$44.9 million, or C$0.24 a share, in the comparable quarter a year ago.

According to FactSet, analysts were expecting a loss of C$0.06 a share.

Adjusted loss before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization also narrowed, reaching C$3.2 million from a loss of C$7.9 million.

Consolidated net revenue rose 13% to C$81.2 million, but came in shy of analyst forecasts of C$82.7 million.

The growth was due to a 14% increase in cannabis revenue, which generated C$65.1 million driven by both medical and adult-use cannabis strength, with growth in its international markets as well.

At the company's vaporizer business, Storz & Bickel, net revenue rose 6%, citing a larger lineup of products and higher sales in non-core markets.
