AMD Delivers Double Beat in Q2 as Data Center Revenue More Than Doubles

Advanced Micro Devices Inc (NASDAQ:AMD) posted financial results for the second quarter of 2026 after the closing bell on Tuesday. Here’s a look at the key details from the chipmaker’s report.

AMD Q2 Earnings Highlights

AMD reported second-quarter revenue of $11.54 billion, beating analyst estimates of $11.28 billion. The chipmaker reported adjusted earnings of $1.66 per share for the quarter, beating estimates of $1.61 per share, according to Benzinga Pro.

Total revenue increased 50% on a year-over-year basis. Here’s a breakdown of revenue by segment.

  • Data Center: $6.7 billion, up 107% year-over-year
  • Client and Gaming: $3.8 billion, up 6% year-over-year
  • Embedded: $977 million, up 19% year-over-year

AMD reported $2 billion of second-quarter operating income and ended the period with approximately $5.09 billion in cash and cash equivalents and $8.03 billion in short-term investments.

“We delivered an excellent quarter, with record revenue and profitability as Data Center revenue more than doubled year-over-year,” said Lisa Su, chair and CEO of AMD.

“We enter the second half with strong momentum as EPYC demand accelerates, Instinct deployments scale and Helios begins to ramp. More broadly, AI is driving a significant expansion in demand for compute across all of our markets.”

What’s On The Horizon For AMD?

AMD expects third-quarter revenue of approximately $13 billion, plus or minus $300 million, versus estimates of $12.52 billion. Third-quarter adjusted gross margin is expected to be approximately 56%, in line with the second quarter.

AMD Shares Move Lower After Hours

AMD Price Action: AMD shares were up approximately 146% year-to-date heading into the print. The chip stock was down 5.48% in after-hours, trading at $490.18 at the time of publication on Tuesday, according to Benzinga Pro.
